Music Lessons

Piano / Cello / Bass Guitar / Beginner Guitar / Beginner Ukulele / EyeHarp

Hello, my name is Issy and I am a fully qualified teacher and musician with 15 years teaching experience. I have a BA Honours Degree in Music & Fine Art from Canterbury Christ Church University and a PGCE in Secondary Music from Manchester Metropolitan University.

I welcome all ages and abilities, it’s never too late to start learning! I also have experience of working with students with special educational needs, visually impaired and deaf students, and I am more than happy to adapt lessons to suit individual needs.

Lessons are based around your personal goals and what you would like to achieve, whether that is developing your confidence and playing for your own enjoyment, or passing specific grade exams on your instrument. I cover a range of skills and aim to develop your understanding of music theory and reading music, as well as developing scales and arpeggios, and performance pieces. I teach up to Grade 8 piano and cello, advanced bass guitar, and beginner guitar, ukulele and eyeharp. As a former Head of Music I have a wealth of experience teaching GCSE, A Level and BTEC Music, so I am also able to support with these studies. For more information please give us a call or email

Guitar / Mandolin / Mandola / Bouzouki / Banjo

Hello, my name is James and I am a fully qualified teacher and musician with over 20 years teaching experience. I have a BA Honours Degree from Exeter University, a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of St Mark and St John, and a vast experience of teaching music to all ages and abilities.

Folk music is my passion, and from an early love of playing guitar, I gravitated into playing a number of stringed folk instruments and absolutely love teaching others whatever the level. I teach guitar, mandolin, mandola, bouzouki and 4-stringed (tenor) banjo; commonly referred to as the Irish banjo.

Whether you are experienced on these instruments or not, a guitarist who fancies having a go at another stringed instrument, or just love folky style music, please feel free to give us a call or email
